# What You Need Before Activating Your Citi Credit Card

> Check what information you need to activate your Citi credit card, such as your card security code and the last 4 digits of your SSN, before you begin.

Activating your Citi® credit card takes only a few minutes if you have the right details ready. Your card usually arrives in the mail with a letter explaining your activation options, and it may also have a sticker with activation instructions.

## Have this information ready

Depending on the method you choose, you may be asked for:

* **Your new card**, including the card number and the security code
* **The last 4 digits of your Social Security number**
* **Your date of birth**
* **Your Citi Online login**, if you activate in the Citi Mobile App or online while signed in

## Activate in three steps

**1. Read your activation letter**

Check the letter or sticker that came with your card for the activation options available to you.

**2. Choose a method**

**3. Confirm activation**

Follow the prompts until you see or hear confirmation that your card is active.
