In general, you can start using your Citi® credit card as soon as you activate it. There typically isn’t a delay between activation and your first purchase.

First steps with your new card

Sign your card

Sign the white or gray box on the back of your card.

Set up online access

Use Citi Online or the Citi Mobile App to view your balance and statements.

Turn on alerts

Enable push notifications so you’re told about purchases made in store or online.

Destroy your old card

If this card replaces an older one, securely cut up the old card once the new one works.

How do I know my card is activated?

Try activating it again: if it’s already active, you’ll usually see a message saying so. If not, you’ll be prompted to finish activation. You can also contact customer service to check.
