Activating your Citi® credit card takes only a few minutes if you have the right details ready. Your card usually arrives in the mail with a letter explaining your activation options, and it may also have a sticker with activation instructions.

Have this information ready

Depending on the method you choose, you may be asked for:
  • Your new card, including the card number and the security code
  • The last 4 digits of your Social Security number
  • Your date of birth
  • Your Citi Online login, if you activate in the Citi Mobile App or online while signed in

Read your activation letter

Check the letter or sticker that came with your card for the activation options available to you.

Choose a method

Activate online, by phone, or in the Citi Mobile App.

Confirm activation

Follow the prompts until you see or hear confirmation that your card is active.
Activation is a security measure. It helps protect you from unauthorized charges if someone intercepts your card in the mail.
